We often need to send URLs in a text message, but links can be long and cut into character limits for each message. With Sonar, you now have the ability to shorten links.
To turn on the Link Shortening feature, click on the Menu bar, navigate to the **Settings** tab, then click on Company Settings. In the URL Shortening Settings section, you can turn link shortening for Campaigns, Mass Messages, and API Messages on or off.

Custom Shortened URL Domain Name
If you would like to use your own custom domain name, you'll need to set up your custom domain name and direct it to sonr.in.
If you use your own hostname, be sure to point your hostname to our servers first. See instructions below. You will not be able to use this hostname for other things as it'll have exclusively to our servers.
**To point your domain to Sonar, please follow the below instructions:**
- Identify a custom domain you can use for sonar links. This custom domain must have an SSL certificate and be secure.
- Contact us at [email protected] and let us know you're about to do this. We'll need to add your domain to our list of approved domains, so this way we can start coordinating.
- How to point your domain to sonr.in depends on your DNS provider. Here are instructions from some popular providers (we will also be happy to help you with this):
To ensure that your hostname is pointing to Sonar, visit the short URL you've created, as you should be redirected to Sonar's About Us page if you visit
Please note that this make take up to 72 hours for changes to propagate.
Set Up A Custom Error Page
Once you've set up a custom shortlinks domain name, you can also direct customers to a custom error page!
If for whatever reason a link no longer works (invalid path hash or no path hash at all), you might not want your customer to be directed to Sonar's error page and may want to direct them to your own.
If you'd like to have a custom error page, email us the link to it. We'll set it up for you!
